Mano (shark)
Acrylic and mixed media on wood panel
18 x 12"
2018

The mano drives off bad sharks and carry their mortal family members to safety. In return, family members were responsible for scraping the barnacles off the backs of the mano, and making sure it was fed well.

Fishermen with the mano as their ‘aumakua would give their first catch to them. Their catches would always return with full nets. Mano have the ability to harm and take life. But they also have the ability to give life.
