Someone told me that I was the most known in the 80s for painting a geisha girl in the middle of a sea of crappy graffiti. It made a dark, dirty area beautiful. At the same time, it opened public eyes to a part of my culture.
I started to paint the geisha with spraycan on canvases & update them with new Japanese patterns. The hip-hop geisha girl has become somewhat my identity. In additioin, I've also started to paint several oni (demons) to add to the Japanese cultural mix.
